Washington, D.C. - United States Trade Representative (USTR) Ambassador Katherine Tai announced that the U.S. will be establishing a United States - Mexico - Canada (USMCA) dispute settlement panel regarding Mexico's ban on American genetically modified corn.

"Once it became clear that Mexico was not acting in good faith and was not going to shift their policies surrounding U.S. genetically modified corn, I began calling on Ambassador Tai to fully utilize the tools USTR has under the USMCA in order to hold Mexico accountable. I am glad to see it is finally happening," said Rep. Fischbach (MN-07). "The USMCA is a strong agreement, but it will only work if the agreements within it are adhered to and respected. We need to ensure fair U.S. access to the Mexican market."

Congresswoman Fischbach raised this issue with Ambassador Tai directly at a Ways & Means hearing in March. You can see her clip here and watch the full hearing here.
