Michelle Fischbach proudly represents the 7th District of Minnesota, which covers the western half of Minnesota, reaching from the Canadian border almost all the way down to Iowa. Joining the U.S. House of Representatives in 2021, she now serves on the House Ways & Means Committee and Rules Committee.
Michelle is a trailblazer and proven conservative leader with over 20 years of serving greater Minnesota. She spent her career in the state legislature representing rural Minnesotan communities and continues to fight for them in Congress. She stands up for issues that matter most to her district like agriculture, 2nd Amendment rights, respect for law and order, and defending the unborn.
In 1996, Michelle was elected to the Minnesota Senate in a special election, a position she held until 2018. In 2011, Michelle became the first woman in Minnesota history to serve as President of the Minnesota Senate. She also served as Chair of the Minnesota Senate Higher Education Committee and as the 49th Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota.
A native Minnesotan, Michelle received a B.A. in Political Science from St. Cloud State University and a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law. She and her husband, Scott, have two children and seven grandchildren and live on a hobby farm in the Paynesville area.
