Congressional Art Competition

Since 1982, more than 650,000 high school students from around the country have participated in the Congressional Art Competition. This longstanding U.S. Capitol tradition is an excellent opportunity for high school students from across the district to showcase their creativity and hard work.

This contest is open to all high school students in Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. The winning artwork of the district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.

The 2025 art competition dates will be released in March 2025. The 2025 art competition submission deadline typically falls near the end of April or the beginning of May, but it's never too late to get started on your submission!

All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Work entered must be in the original medium (that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing).
