Congressional Art Competition
Since 1982, more than 650,000 high school students from around the country have participated in the Congressional Art Competition. This longstanding U.S. Capitol tradition is an excellent opportunity for high school students from across the district to showcase their creativity and hard work.
This contest is open to all high school students in Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. The winning artwork of the district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include the winning artwork from all participating districts from around the country. The winning artwork is also featured on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.
The deadline for 2023 submissions is 5:00 PM CT, May 1. Please see the files attached for more information. Submissions can be sent to artcompetitionmn07@mail.house.gov with the necessary documentation and a picture of your work. Please note if you are selected as a winner, the original copy of your artwork must be at my Willmar or Moorhead office by May 12th.
All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Work entered must be in the original medium (that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing).
Thank you to those who participated in the 2022 Congressional Art Competition! We received many wonderful submissions from talented students across Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. Click here to view the winning submissions.
