MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – KVRR has obtained a response from Rep. Michelle Fischbach regarding the protest outside her Moorhead office on Wednesday, July 9.

At the time of KVRR’s coverage on Wednesday, there was no comment from Fischbach or her staff. However, on Friday, July 11, we received an official statement from the congresswoman.

It says, in full: “Over 275,000 people in the Seventh District voted for me to go to Congress to implement President Trump’s agenda of rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in our government. The One Big Beautiful Bill advances this goal, prioritizes U.S. citizens who need care, and helps strengthen Medicaid for future generations. Medicaid will, of course, continue to be available to the elderly, disabled, and those who need it. If these few protestors would like our taxpayer-funded programs like Medicaid to be depleted by illegal immigrants and people who are capable of contributing to their communities but choose not to, I think those people are out of touch with the vast majority of this district.”

The protest was organized by local labor leaders who expressed concern about cuts to Medicaid as a result of Trump’s budget bill.
