(Learfield News/Washington, DC) — A bill introduced by Minnesota Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach aims to encourage more law enforcement recruitment.

It would provide federal grants to students pursuing their first law enforcement degree.

The applicant would be required to serve as a full-time officer for four years after completing their studies.

Fischbach says the Law Enforcement Education Grant Program Act is a targeted approach to investing in well-trained and highly educated police officers.
