The fraud and financial waste exposed in Minnesota under Governor Tim Walz are not just scandals; they’re a display of radical negligence, proving he is entirely unfit to manage a single taxpayer dime or protect Minnesotans.
The theft of $1 billion from vulnerable Minnesotans across our state’s human services program, including the notorious $250 million Feeding Our Future conspiracy, was not accidental. It happened because the Walz Administration allowed it.
During the COVID pandemic, Walz’s reckless policies removed all financial guardrails from critical food aid programs. He prioritized theatrics and lost control over basic tax dollar security. By abandoning common-sense accountability measures, Walz paved the way for criminals to stack fraudulent schemes on fraudulent schemes.
This catastrophic lack of oversight is evident across Walz’s record:
· He failed to conduct required security reviews on the systems that determine SNAP eligibility, resulting in 186,000 deceased individuals still receiving benefits and 355,000 recipients taking resources from multiple states.
· He allowed the misreporting of issuance data to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for three years straight (2021-2023).
· Walz refused to complete a request for data from the USDA to combat fraud, including fraud that is linked to funding Al-Shabaab terrorists.
The lack of action to protect taxpayer dollars is why I sent a letter to U.S. Attorney David Rosen demanding a full investigation into the fraudulent funding of terrorists. I also sent a letter directly to Walz requesting a full explanation for why the security measures have not been completed and what steps his administration will take moving forward.
However, demanding answers is only the first step. We must also change the law to ensure this stonewalling never happens again. To stop this abuse of taxpayer dollars and restore common-sense accountability, I have cosponsored the SNAP Data Transparency and Oversight Act. This legislation provides a direct remedy to the Walz Administration's refusal to comply with federal oversight. By requiring states to provide beneficiary-level data and case files to the USDA within 30 days of a request, this bill reduces the ability for fraud to thrive without detection. It ensures that if a state fails to be transparent with its records, it faces mandatory corrective action and the withholding of federal funds. We are creating the federal guardrails necessary to ensure that every dollar intended for vulnerable families actually reaches them, rather than being diverted into the pockets of criminals.
The price of Walz’s negligence is being paid in your tax dollars. He must comply with federal law and release Minnesota’s SNAP data. Minnesotans deserve a leader who will protect their
bank accounts and families, instead of someone who obstructs justice to further a radical agenda.
