Rep. Fischbach Sends Letter to Walz Requesting Information on SNAP Fraud
Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07) was joined by House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn "GT" Thompson (PA-15) and the Minnesota Republican Congressional Delegation, in sending a letter to Governor Tim Walz, requesting an investigation and immediate accountability for the State of Minnesota's profound and troubling failure to safeguard taxpayer dollars against waste, fraud, and abuse in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
The letter highlights the Walz Administration's refusal to comply with a May 2025 data request from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Instead of cooperating, the Walz Administration chose to sue the federal government in a misguided attempt to prevent oversight.
"Governor Walz is presiding over an inexcusable breakdown of integrity that has allowed Minnesota taxpayer money to become a fund for fraud," said Congresswoman Fischbach. "His administration's decision to sue the USDA instead of complying with a simple audit is not oversight, it's obstruction."
