Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07) voted for a six-month Continuing Resolution (CR) that included the SAVE Act, which keeps non-citizens from illegally voting in U.S. elections.

"In states like Minnesota, illegal immigrants are able to get a driver's license and other forms of identification that can be used to vote illegally. I voted for the six month Continuing Resolution because it included the SAVE Act, which guarantees non-citizens will not be able to illegally vote in our elections," said Rep. Fischbach. "My colleagues on the Left love to talk about threats to our democracy, but Minnesota Governor Walz knows that non-citizens are appearing on voter rolls and even receiving ballots and has done nothing about it. It is critical to our democracy that voters have faith in their elections, and I am proud to vote for legislation that would strengthen that faith."

Background: The SAVE Act requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote, removes non-citizens from existing voter rolls, and empowers citizens to bring civil suits against election officials who fail to uphold these requirements. It also requires states make it as easy as possible to legally register to vote.
