Washington, D.C. - The supply chain crisis is far from over. As inflation reaches record levels and backlogs at ports and in the freight industry have continued to increase with no end in sight, Congress has the opportunity to ease regulatory burdens so Americans can sort out the supply chain crisis without government interference. That is why Rep. Fischbach introduced the SHIP IT Act with Rep. Byron Donalds (FL-19).
"Congress should seize any opportunity to ease supply-chain tensions. The SHIP IT Act would do this by targeting specific needs in ports, shipping, and trucking," said Rep. Fischbach. "I am proud to introduce this legislation and urge my colleagues to put it to a vote so workers and consumers can start to feel some relief from this supply chain crisis."
“As our country continues to feel the grave impacts of the supply chain crisis, the federal government should do everything in its power to address and alleviate the issues occurring at America’s ports,” said Rep. Donalds. “I’m proud to cosponsor the SHIP IT Act to provide temporary relief from the ongoing stress on the American economy that’s a direct byproduct of President Biden’s severely mismanaged economic policies. The federal government must provide solutions to address the consistent supply chain issues, and the SHIP IT Act does just that.”
Background: The SHIP IT Act builds on the STOP the GRINCH Act the Congresswoman and Senator introduced in November 2021. It includes all provisions from that bill as well as some additions. The SHIPT IT Act is the House companion to Senator Mike Lee's bill of the same name.
