WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-7) has announced the results of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition.
“Congratulations to this year’s winner, Vy Pham. Her submission – ‘March for Life’ – beautifully encapsulates an issue that is deeply personal to so many,” said Congresswoman Fischbach. “Thank you to those who participated in the competition. We received many wonderful submissions from talented students across the district, and I am looking forward to participating again next year.”
‘March for Life’ was submitted by Vy Pham, a senior at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls. It will be displayed for one year in the tunnel from the U.S. Capitol to the Cannon House Office Building, where it will be viewed by thousands of visitors, tourists, staff, and distinguished Members of Congress.
Cora Watson, a sophomore at Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg, earned second place for her ‘Jersey Cow’ scratch board portrait. It will be displayed in Congresswoman Fischbach’s Washington, D.C. office.
Ashlyn Brouwer, a freshman at Central Minnesota Christian School, and Katelyn Graves, a senior at Central Minnesota Christian School, received honorable mentions. Their respective submissions will be displayed at Congresswoman Fischbach’s district offices in Willmar and Moorhead.
Since 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated in the Congressional Institute’s annual Congressional Art Competition, a nationwide high school art competition that recognizes and encourages artistic talent. The competition was open to all public, private, charter, and home school students in grades nine through 12.
