Washington, D.C. – Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alexander Mayorkas released a letter today announcing that the U.S. will now allow fully vaccinated travelers from Canada to enter the U.S. over land. In response to the announcement, Representative Michelle Fischbach issued the following statement:

“The letter acknowledges the importance of cross-border travel for the economies of border communities, but it’s incredibly disheartening that it’s happening so late in the year.  I have been urging the Administration to open the Northern border since I took office in January. I am so glad these businesses - that have gone through two devastating tourist seasons - can finally start recovering. I look forward to welcoming Canadians back to Minnesota very soon.”
